Such information helps small, medium and large farmers to make decisions regarding the management and planning of activities. However, access to localized climate information remains a problem in many parts of the world, as commercial weather stations are often considered expensive. This project is based on a "Do it yourself" approach, which consists of the prototyping, configuration and assembly of electronic components for localized climate information collection. In this context, a weather station based on an Arduino micro-controller has been developed to monitor the environmental variables: temperature, barometric pressure, relative humidity, amount of rainfall and altitude. The weather station data was compared with a commercial weather station. The results obtained from the Arduino-based weather station confirmed the feasibility of using it as a substitute for high-cost commercial sensor modules.
