- ÍtemRestringidoUtilizing blockchain technology in creating inclusive global economies for financially disadvantaged populations.(Universidad EARTH, 2018-12) Maduri, David; McLeod, Kent D.Financial inclusion is one of the determinant factors required to overcome inequality and distribution of resources in the world. In this already inequitable world, there seem to be populations in some parts of the world that despite the advancements made in technology and other sectors of the economy continue to be left outside the traditional financial ecosystems. Access to financial resources and capital is a major factor for development and poverty eradication, but a huge percentage of the world`s population, especially the poor, do not have access to such services. Technological advancements, however, do present an opportunity for the redistribution of wealth and the elimination of poverty to create a better world. Among these technologies is blockchain technology, which although still in its infant stages, has shown the potential to provide access to financial resources and promote financial inclusion across different economic levels. This project, in development for the last two years under the legal and commercial name, Refuge Network, explores the possibilities of using proven business models and blockchain technologies to help disadvantaged populations like refugees and people in slums to access the global economy through the provision of efficient financial services. The aim of Refuge Network is to build a web platform and mobile application that connects these populations to the global economies. This project had been in existence for one year prior to this Graduation Project and will go on after. It has an active team of experts and advisors with a legal representation under the jurisdiction of Malta. More information can be found at www.refuge.network.
