- ÍtemRestringidoTraining school platform for rural development in Murewa, Zimbabwe : agricultural and enterprise skills for smallholder farmers.(Universidad EARTH, 2020-12) Musiyiwa, Respect Rungano; Linkimer, Mildred; Mendoza Luna, Alexander RafaelSmallholder and family farmers possess great potential to transform the economies of developing countries if well coordinated and empowered. However, the value chain system for smallholder farmers is largely disintegrated and the farmers are faced with many gaps. These includes lack of skills, markets, finance and information. There is urgent need to come up with inclusive mechanisms that can help smallholder farmers to overcome these challenges. It is crucial to have platforms that build the capacity of smallholder farmers and give them access to resources they need to be productive and profitable. Training and extension services are of paramount importance to end hunger, poverty and ensure income security. These initiatives must create fairness and equal importance of all the value chain players thus guaranteeing fair and equitable transfer of value that is needed for food and income security in developing economies. We have information and communication technologies at our disposal so it is easy to create platforms to coordinate all players from farmers, business, markets, financiers, donors, processors and consumers.
