In Bugesera District, Rwanda, water scarcity conditions everyday life. Actions addressed to provide a solution to this most challenging problem are of utmost importance. This project presents a hydrological and social-cultural diagnosis of water accessibility in the Gashora community of Bugesera that may help formulate a sustainable water management in this area. Besides, of the hydrological analysis, two thousand face-to-face interviews were made in order to clearly define the problems associated to water in this area. The conclusions lean mainly on the relevance that need to be placed on social-economic factors and cultural habits in order to ensure a better, safer and more gender equitable access to water in rural settings Africa.
