- ÍtemRestringidoCoagulation using Moringa oleifera Lamarck, 1783 (Moringaceae) and solar radiation disinfection for river water treatment.(Universidad EARTH, 2019-12) Akampurira, Precious; Kohlmann, Bert; McLeod, Kent D.The Dos Novillos River water was treated by coagulation, flocculation and sedimentation with Moringa oleifera seeds as a coagulant using one experimental dosage of 8 ml per liter. The quality of the treated water was analyzed and compared with that of non-treated water. Measurements of turbidity and pH showed that coagulation with Moringa oleifera seeds significantly affected the quality of the water by reducing turbidity (77.20 NTU to 37.95 NTU) and pH (6.9 to 6.8). There was no significant statistical difference for the variables of electrical conductivity and total solids (p > 0.05). Moringa oleifera and solar radiation treatment demonstrated a significant statistical difference by reducing the fecal coliform count by 4.433 CFU/100ml and 5.133 CFU/100ml, respectively. Pretreatment with Moringa oleifera before solar radiation did not show significant results in improving the solar disinfection. In addition, there was not a statistically significant difference between the level and color of container transparency using blue and clearer bottles in reducing the fecal coliform count.
