The efficiency of two biological agents (fungi and bacteria) and a synthetic nematicide were studied for the control of the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita in the cultivation of parsley, Petroselinum sp. The parsley plants were transplanted in plastic pots containing 1.5 kg of sterilized soil. One parsley plant was transplanted per pot and 7 days after, 5 thousand eggs and second stage juveniles of the nematode were inoculated. 10 blocks were designed, and each block contained the four treatments (Control, Nematicide, Fungus and Bacteria) that in turn contained a plant as an experimental unit. All plants were given the same agronomic management in which measurements of the variable’s height, number of leaves, root galling index and total biomass were taken at days 21, 35, 49 and 63 after transplantation. An analysis of variance was carried out with a significance level of 0.05 for each variable where the results obtained showed that there were no statistical differences in any of them. For the variable height, number of leaves and root galling index, the highest average was obtained by T1 (control), 9.81 cm, 9.14 leaves and IA 4 respectively. The highest accumulated dry biomass variable was obtained by T3 (fungus), 2.1 g. In treatments T1 (control) and T4 (bacteria) the final population (Pf) of nematodes was higher than the initial population (Pi) and in treatment T2 and T3 the final population (Pf) was lower than the initial population (Pi). Total costs for synthetic nematicide treatment (USD 238.68), fungus treatment (USD 541.98) and bacteria treatment (USD 168.21) were also calculated.
