The objective of the study was to quantify the production and quality of Tithonia diversifolia (Botón de Oro) over different cutting intervals and planting densities. Nine plots were planted with the three different densities distributed randomly. The proposed densities were: one plant per m2, two plants per m2 and four plants per m2; each with three repetitions. All plots were evaluated at week six, eight and ten after the standardization cut to start the experiment. The percentage of dry matter (DM) presented significant differences between the weeks, obtaining the highest percentage at week eight, however, there were no differences between the densities. Regarding the number of stems, no significant differences were found between treatments, but between weeks being week six in which it registered the highest number of stems. Greater stem circumference was verified at the eighth week. The percentages of leaves, stem and dead matter, no significant differences were found between treatments or between the weeks of cutting. Biomass per plant and per m2 were similar between weeks. Higher biomass per m2 was verified for the highest density, four plants per m2. For the Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF), no significant differences were found. The values of Acid Detergent Fiber (ADF) only showed significant differences between densities, where a higher value for the density of a plant per m2 was obtained. Increased in vitro digestibility of dry matter was verified at week eight. Finally, for the Crude Protein (CP) parameter, no significant differences were found between densities or short weeks. It is concluded that it was not possible to determine an optimal cut-off point where the production and nutritional value of T. diversifolia were positively related by a determinant effect of rainfall and variability between plants.
